All consultations are by appointment only. When making an appointment a trained member of staff will be able to signpost you to the appropriate service, this may not be a doctor. Please do not be offended when they ask for information.
Please make it clear to the receptionist if your problem requires urgent attention when booking your appointment.
If you are experiencing severe chest pain, collapse, severe breathing difficulties, one sided weakness or slurred speech or severe bleeding, please dial 999 immediately.
For minor conditions, your local pharmacy offers free help and advice without the need for an appointment. You might also be able to get medication free of charge under the Common Ailment Scheme. For more information see Common Ailments Service - Fishguard Health Centre (nhs.wales)
Routine Appointments
Please make an appointment by calling in or telephoning the Surgery during opening hours. New appointments are made available at various times during the week.
The surgery hours may need to be varied during holidays, sickness and Doctor’s training afternoons. Please note that Doctors individual surgery hours vary.
Routine appointments can be requested by telephone or in person. Routine appointments all run on a 10 minute appointment system. Please tell the receptionist if you need a longer appointment for any reason, eg medical, cervical smear etc.
Urgent/Same Day Appointments
Urgent appointments are 5 minutes and need to be booked early in the day so they can be dealt with accordingly.
The Duty Doctor may phone you back and may be able to deal with your concerns over the telephone. Alternatively, they may arrange to see you in a specific on the day appointment, arrange a prescription, arrange an appointment with the practice nurse or an appointment later in the week depending on the nature of your problem.
PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE THIS BY CONFUSING CONVENIENCE WITH URGENCY.
